Route 26 : Hartenbos - Oudtshoorn

About the Route

This short route takes you from Hartenbos over the Robinson Pass to the beautiful town of Oudtshoorn. The pass gives you lovely views and amazing corners, all on perfect tar roads. After you descend the pass, you will see more and more Ostriches on the farms next to the road. If you see them, it comes as no surprise that Oudtshoorn is considered the Ostrich capital of the world. Here you can visit ostrich farms if you wish or you can visit the Cango Caves and the Rust en Verde waterfall. The local supermarkets often store Ostrich eggs on the shelfs incase you want to make yourself a big breakfast. We stayed at the White House, it is not in the best neighbourhood, but the rooms are cheap and the elderly host Matilda is lovely.
