About the Route
A short and beautiful road from Nelspruit to Kaapschehoop. It is completely tarred and, once again, very mountainous.
Keep your eyes out for the Wild Horses roaming around in the mountains here, there is a good change you might actually find them in the village as well. In Kaapschehoop, take some time to walk around, the village is small and there is one main gravel road leading through it. There are several beautiful walking routes that start from the village. Some take you to viewing points, other to the waterfall(s). You can buy a permit at Salvadors restaurant and pub for the different trails. There is nobody checking it, so you could just walk it without paying, but the proceeds go to the upkeep, so please just pay the small fee (at the time it was R50). For other things to do in the area, you can have a look at Adam's Calendar, it is a series of stones believed to be the oldest man-made structure on Earth. The ancient circular monolithic stones predate any other structure found to date, at 75 000 years old. This is reasonably close by Kaapschehoop if you want to add something to do.
Be aware that there is NO petrol station or supermarket in Kaapschehoop. The nearest one is a short 14 KM down the road, there is also a SPAR supermarket.
