Route 55 : Harrismith - Memel

About the Route

This route takes you from Harrismith to Memel over mainly gravel roads. This is not going to be the easiest route as some sections does not seem to be maintained. The start of the gravel roads just outside of harrismith are nice and easy, but as you progress down this route the road deteriorates. There are several two tracks that could be classified as 4x4 tracks. Be aware that there are very deep ruts. At the time some were almost half a meter deep. At some places there are also cement pipes under the tow track that broke and left some holes that could be dangerous if you don't see them. The scenery is beautiful and if you are up to a little bit of a challenge here and there, it is a fun route to ride.
